"Wakasa Bay Cycling Route" E-Bike Rental & Scenic Coastal Cycling in Japan
Just about one hour by train from Kyoto, the Wakasa Bay Cycling Route (Waka-Cycle) offers one of Japan's most rewarding cycling experiences.
Ride along the beautiful Sea of Japan coastline, discover peaceful fishing villages, cycle through rice fields and traditional countryside landscapes, and enjoy breathtaking views of Wakasa Bay and the scenic Five Lakes of Mikata (Mikatagoko).
To help more visitors experience this hidden gem of Japan, Waka-Cycle is launching a Wide-Area E-Bike Rental Program. You can rent an E-bike at one participating location and return it at another, making it easy to enjoy a one-way cycling journey across the area.
All bicycles available through the program are electric-assist bicycles (E-bikes), allowing you to comfortably ride longer distances and tackle hills with ease, whether you're an experienced cyclist or simply looking for a relaxing sightseeing adventure.
Stay at certified Cyclist-Friendly Hotels, and you can rent your bike for up to 3 days and 2 nights, giving you plenty of time to explore the spectacular coastline, rural landscapes, local culture, and hidden attractions of the Wakasa Bay area.
Experience a different side of Japan beyond the major tourist destinations and discover the natural beauty of the Wakasa Bay area by E-bike.

・Advance reservation is required for this rental service.
・Rentals are not available without prior reservation.
・If you wish to use the service between September 19 and September 23, please complete your reservation by 12:00 PM on September 18.
・For rentals on or after September 24, reservations must be made at least 7 days before the rental date.

・Rentals for 2 days/1 night or 3 days/2 nights are available only for guests staying at certified Cyclist-Friendly Hotels.
・Rental fees are the same regardless of the rental location or bicycle selected.

(When returning the bicycle to a different rental station)
¥5,000 per bicycle
・Payment must be made at the rental station when checking out the bicycle.
・No one-way return fee applies if the bicycle is returned to the same station where it was rented.
・The fee remains the same even for rentals longer than one day.

Before making a reservation, please carefully review the Special Terms, which apply to all participating rental stations.
